Thanks to some expert instruction, I caught my first trout on a fly rod back in 2000 and have caught and released thousands of fish ever since with increasing frequency. Once my son, Sammy got hooked on angling, it became the activity of choice for the two of us to spend time together. It’s been a great journey working to build my knowledge and skills, which is why we plan back country outings in new waters every year. I never dreamed we’d track down so many species of trout all over America and various other species of fish across the States and around the world with our fly rods, such as sailfish in Guatemala or rainbows and brown trout in New Zealand. Perhaps my greatest joy has been to watch Sammy’s fly fishing skills surpass mine and that’s saying something because I am wired to be quite competitive. While vocationally my work, at least in biblical terms, is more focused on helping people become “fishers of men”, it’s a privilege to be able to assist Sammy, schedule permitting, when groups of anglers want make some memories on guided trips.
“I cannot think of a more relaxing and rewarding way to enjoy the beauty of God’s creation and experience person refreshment than to schedule a day for some fly fishing.“
